Oxford alumnae like (from left-to-right) Rachel Factor 09Ox 11C, Lindsay Breslauer 09Ox 11C, and Rachel Laney 09Ox 11C could play significant roles in the helping their alma mater's admission office recruit new students. You can too.

Alumni are a key element of any university’s admissions process. That’s why Oxford alumni who volunteer through the Emory Alumni Association’s (EAA) Alumni Admission Network (AAN) are so crucial to Oxford’s efforts to recruit superior undergraduate students. The AAN currently includes more than 1,700 alumni across the country and around the world, hailing from all of Emory’s schools. The AAN provides a wonderful opportunity for alumni to support their alma mater, serve their communities and assist with all of Emory’s admission work. Alumni, from Oxford or any other school, can get involved with the AAN in a variety of ways. For instance, Alumni volunteer to host “Let’s Go!” parties for enrolling students, welcoming them to the Emory community. Some volunteers contact admitted students directly, sharing their Oxford experience and serving as a local resource to answer questions about their alma mater. Others represent the school and college fairs in their area, meeting potential applicants and their families. These alumni volunteers provide a personal link between Oxford and prospective students—a crucial part of the admissions process. Oxford alumni can deliver distinctive messages to prospective students, many of whom may be initially unfamiliar with the school. By reaching out individually to applicants, alumni are helping to build the future of the Oxford community for emerging generations. Moreover, prospective students and their families appreciate the experience, knowledge, and advice provided by alumni. Oxford encourages its alumni to get involved in this rewarding work—with the help of its alumni, Oxford can continue to set high standards for admission and recruit the best students. For more information about his to get involved with the AAN though Oxford College, please contact Kelley Lips 02Ox 04C, Oxford’s assistant dean for admission, at kelley.lips@emory.edu.—Cory Lopez 10C |
