Machu Picchu Explorer is one of the many breathtaking trips offered by the Emory Travel Program. At almost 7,900 feet above sea level, Machu Picchu guarantees to be a little more breathtaking than the others, too.

Machu Picchu isn’t at the top of the world, but at nearly 7,900 feet above sea level, it isn’t too far away. This August, the Emory Travel Program will take adventurous travelers to this UNESCO World Heritage site either by train or by foot—on the same trail the Inca used centuries ago.
“Machu Picchu Explorer” is a 10-day trek to Peru (August 21–30) that includes not only a visit to Machu Picchu, one of this hemisphere’s most sacred places, but also atrip to Lima, the cosmopolitan Peruvian capital, and Cusco, the gateway city to Machu Picchu, which is actually considerable higher in altitude—nearly 11,000 feet above sea level, more than 3,000 feet higher than the “Lost City of the Incas.”
