Who inspires you? The Emory Alumni Association invites you to nominate Emory alumni who deserve to be recognized for their accomplishments. Each year, the Association presents three awards to distinguished alumni who have exhibited outstanding contributions to the Emory community or abroad. The Association also supports the Emory Center for Women's Unsung Alumna Heroine Award.

The J. Pollard Turman Alumni Service Award

Recipients of the J. Pollard Turman Alumni Service Award are selected by the Nominating and Leadership Committee of the Emory Alumni Board based upon one or more of the following criteria:

•             Extraordinary service to Emory through alumni organizations, regional clubs, class programs, and other related groups

•             Leadership roles assumed through EAA; achievements in developing and enhancing alumni-related activities

•             Exceptional contributions of time and expertise, as a part of his or her volunteer service on behalf of Emory

Unless there is a compelling reason to select more than one recipient (for example, a couple whose achievements are difficult to distinguish from one another), one Turman award winner is chosen each year. All recipients are expected to participate in a ceremony honoring the Turman award winner.

Nominations for the J. Pollard Turman Alumni Service Award will be due August 2, 2013.

The Judson C. Ward “Jake’s” Golden Heart Award

The Judson C. Ward Golden Heart Award was established in May of 2010 in honor of its namesake and first recipient. This award, given by the EAA, recognizes Emory alumni who have demonstrated the values beheld tirelessly by Dr. Judson "Jake" Ward 33C 36G. Alumni who possess one or more of the following attributes are eligible to be nominated:

•             Generosity of spirit and willingness to serve others

•             Exemplary loyalty to Emory University

•             A track record of extended service and exceptional, yet humble, contributions of time and service to Emory University and to one's community either behind the scenes or through regional clubs, chapters, and other Emory or community groups

Nominees and potential recipients must also meet the following criteria:

•             Be an inducted, living member of Corpus Cordis Aureum (alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago from any of Emory's schools)

•             Non-inducted alumni who are part of the 50-year reunion class or who are eligible to be inducted into Corpus Cordis Aureum may be nominated; they will be inducted during the ceremony

•             Ability to attend or send a representative to attend the award ceremony

Nominations for the Golden Heart Award are solicited and accepted each year by the EAA. To nominate an alumnus/a, please complete your nomination online by October 11, 2013 or mail or fax your nomination to Martha Fagan,  Emory Alumni Association, Miller-Ward Alumni House, 815 Houston Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30322.

Unsung Alumna Heroine Award

Unsung Alumna Heroine Award recipients are selected by the Nominating and Leadership Committee of the Emory Alumni Board. Award-winners are women who have:

•             Served as role models or mentors for girls or women

Alumnae Unsung Heroines are invited to attend a dinner in their honor in February. Each award-winner is presented with her award before an audience that consists of administrators, friends, family, alumni, and Center for Women board members.
