Jelica Nuccio has made a habit out of breaking down barriers. When she took the helm of the Deaf-Blind Service Center (DBSC), a community-based agency in Seattle, it was nearly bankrupt. Under Nuccio’s leadership, the number of employees at DBSC has increased by 80 percent, and the center has maintained a sound budget in the face of statewide cuts in agency funding.
